The structure you are going to join

Within the Development, Global Issues and Partnerships pole, the Department of International and European Relations (DRIE) is responsible for strengthening the links between the IRD and European and international institutions, to make known the positions of research on the they carry and bring into debate and to contribute to mobilizing contractual resources for the benefit of the establishment. The Representative is administratively attached to the Department of International and European Relations and is in direct contact with the Department of Studies and Relations with the Representations. There are 26 representations within the IRD, each year the movement of representatives at the end of their mandate opens up new career opportunities

Missions / Responsibilities / Activities


The Representative ensures the scientific and institutional representation of the IRD with the institutions and partners of the country of assignment as well as with French, European and international actors in connection with governance.
In this sense, your activities will be:
  • Animation and coordination of research, actions in terms of innovation and capacity building
  • Help with research programming
  • Science diplomacy and fundraising
  • Dissemination of research results and Science-Society dialogue
  • Support for research administration

The profile we are looking for

  • You have developed the following skills:
  • Sense of negotiation, diplomacy and human relations.
  • Sense of animation and the exercise of responsibilities.
  • Ability to work in complex contexts and possibly political and security instability.

You have acquired the following knowledge:

  • Knowledge of development challenges and research systems of the country of assignment and its region.
  • Knowledge of European and French development aid policy.
  • Knowledge of the institutional and financial arrangements of the main national, regional and multilateral bodies and donors.
  • Knowledge of the environment and operating rules of the IRD is appreciated. A perfect mastery of French, an excellent practice of English, written and spoken.
  • Mastery of expression in public.
