Job Description
BACKGROUND

PURPOSE POSITION
The impact of the Radio Operators function concerns all the Agencies of the United Nations System and will consist in having an operational radio room within the limits set by the Security Management Team (SMT); quality support for field missions and Agencies with sub-offices in the Regions.
KEY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
In this section list up to five primary functions/accountabilities of the position (Typically one sentence each) and examples of duties that must be performed to successfully accomplish key responsibilities.
Manage the communications of the telecommunications room of the United Nations Systems and dispatch security information to all the Agencies on the instructions of the Administrator in charge of Security
Receive, process and transmit all information and communications received in the telecommunications room (Radio, E-mail).
Assume the radio permanence, make contacts as part of the follow-up of missions and controls with the Agencies.
Ensure a filing of all correspondence received and sent in the operations room.
Participate in the basic training of United Nations personnel and in the development of certain categories of personnel in the field of telecommunications.
Support the installation and programming of radios.
Keep the data bank relating to the security plan up to date.
Perform other tasks assigned to him.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education
Hold a Secondary School Diploma: (Baccalaureate, GCE, etc.).
A Graduate Diploma in Engineering, ICT, Telecommunications (or related sciences) or a Certification in one of these fields is a great asset
Experience, Knowledge, and Skills
Secondary school diploma: Have at least 04 years of professional experience in one of the following fields: Communication, Telecommunications, IT;
Graduate Diploma in ICT Engineering, Telecommunications: Have at least 01 year of professional experience in one of the following fields: Communication, Telecommunications, IT.
Experience in a similar position is desired;
Have a good knowledge of the use of the computer and Microsoft Office software;
Good experience in telecommunications, radio and data transmission will be considered an asset;
Perfect mastery of French and English and knowledge of use of the other language.
