In order to densify the staff of the team in charge of implementing the activities of the “ROROS – Eye Health and Correcting Refractive Error in Cameroon” project, Helen Keller Intl – Cameroon is launching a call for applications for the recruitment of a (e) professional trainee. 

I- General objective

The objective of this project is to improve VAS coverage among children aged 6 to 59 months during SASNIM/JNV in the regions concerned. 

Job title : Eye Care Professional Trainee
Place of employment: Yaoundé
Supervised by: Project Officer
Type of contract: Professional internship

Duration of the contract: 04 months renewable

II. Responsibility

The main mission of the intern will be to assist the project manager in the implementation of the activities of the approved action plan, including monitoring & evaluation activities.

III. Specific tasks

  • Contribute to the preparation of project activities, this includes meetings and workshops bringing together stakeholders, teacher training sessions, student screening sessions, data collection.
  • Contribute to the preparation of training modules.
  • Contribute to monitoring the implementation of the various project activities listed above.
  • Contribute to the drafting of activity reports and factsheets.
  • Participate in updating project indicators.
  • Perform any other task requested by the hierarchy.

PROFILE

  • Have at least a BAC+3 degree in public health or social sciences. Have training in a relevant field including eye care (TSO, nurses specialized in eye care, refractionist optician preferably).
  • Being bilingual (French and English) will be an asset. 
  • Having good writing skills in English will also be an asset.
  • Have a good command of computer tools: Office automation (PowerPoint, Excel and Word), electronic messaging, familiar with social networks, in particular Twitter.
  • Be able to work under pressure.
