Helen Keller International is an international non-profit non-governmental organization whose mission is to save the sight and lives of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged people. It fights against the causes and consequences of blindness and malnutrition by establishing programs based on data and research conducted around sight, health and nutrition. In Cameroon since 1992, we are mainly involved in the fight against Neglected Tropical Diseases and malnutrition.
Helen Keller International Cameroun is seeking to a suitable candidate for the position of Logistic & Security Officer , based in Yaoundé, who will perform the following tasks:
Title of the position: Logistics & Security Officer
Duty station : Yaoundé, Cameroon
Supervisor : Deputy Country Director
Type of contract : Fixed-term contract
Duration : one-year renewable
Dimension of the role
The Logistics and Operations Officer is responsible for the management of the vehicle fleet (vehicles, motorbikes, etc…), property (buildings and electrical equipment, etc…) and the safety of people and property in accordance with Helen Keller Intl’s logistics policies and procedures. He or she must ensure the proper functioning of the assets (vehicles, electrical equipment and buildings) and the safety of people and property of Helen Keller Intl-Cameroon. He or she will support the provision of logistics, security, supervise transportation, customs clearance, delivery, storage and management of equipment assets.
Description of specific tasks
Management of the vehicle fleet and drivers (60%)
Ensure the management of the vehicle fleet (cars, motorbikes, etc.) (follow-up of preventive and curative maintenance) and of the drivers;
- In collaboration with the program and administration teams, make arrangements for vehicle rental, travel plans, allocation and reorganization of vehicles;
Ensure the monitoring and refueling of the Tomcards ;
- Ensure refueling of vehicles/generators;
Ensure that vehicles, motorbikes, etc. and generators are in good condition and that routine maintenance is carried out according to established maintenance plans;
- Ensure that vehicles are equipped with emergency and safety devices in accordance with the regulations in force;
- Ensure that vehicle/motorcycle drivers comply with Helen Keller Intl’s transport and travel protocols (filling in documents, safety rules, etc.);
- Ensure the updating of the monitoring, maintenance and repair files of Helen Keller Intl’s vehicle fleet;
- Ensure the compliance of the vehicle fleet with the regulations in force (insurance, registration cards, pink cards, etc.);
Produce internal reports (travel, maintenance)
- Carry out the analysis of monthly fuel consumption;
Ensure the collection of quality data related to support activities.
- Supervises drivers and coordinates their activities.
Asset management (20%)
Plan and oversee the efficient transport, delivery and storage of program supplies
Liaise with program managers on timely and efficient customs clearance, receipt of international supplies, adapt or develop and implement stock management/stock control mechanisms; develop and implement monitoring tools and reporting systems.
Carry out the office inventory work and maintain the inventory file (Asset Panda):
Ensure that all Helen Keller Intl materials are labeled with the appropriate stickers;
- Ensure the proper functioning of the office’s generators (preventive maintenance, diesel supply, etc.);
Ensure that the generator tracking documents are properly completed
- Ensure that the water and electricity installations are functional;
- Ensure periodic inspections and implementation of any repairs;
- Ensure that all assets are in good working order.
Safety and Security Management (20%)
- Serve as the organization’s security focal point, produce monthly security and safety reports;
- Supervises the security agents working at Helen Keller Intl and at the international staff residences.
- Cooperate with the Deputy Director and Sub-Office Coordinators in the field to ensure the welfare, safety and security of team members.
- Conduct field visits to assess the safety and security of sub-offices, train staff in security and advise management on security issues.
- Ensure the proper functioning of the office’s security equipment: metal detectors, fire extinguishers, smoke detectors;
Knowledge, skills, behavior and experience required to achieve the objectives of the role
Qualifications and experience:
- Have a Master’s degree in Management, Logistics and Transport, Economics, or an equivalent university degree in a relevant field;
Good knowledge of customs and tax procedures;
- At least three (3) years of professional experience, including at least two (2) years in a similar position, preferably in an international NGO, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Very good computer skills, especially in Microsoft office package (Word; PowerPoint; Outlook), and strong Excel skills, including pivot tables.
