1. Overview of WCS
Present in Cameroon since 1988, WCS set up the Cameroon Biodiversity Program in 1993 to coordinate its actions in the various sites of the country. Since then, WCS has been involved in the creation and/or management of a significant number of protected areas across the country, including: The Mbam and Djerem National Park, the Technical Operational Unit of Takamanda- Mone, the Binational Complex National Park of Bouba-Ndjida (in Cameroon and Sena Oura (in Chad) and the Technical Operational Unit of Benoué to name a few.
Regarding the Mbam & Djerem National Park (PNMD), it was created in 2000, and covers an area of about 4,200 km² in the transition zone between the dense humid forest of the south and the dry savannahs of the north. Since 2003, WCS has been working alongside the Government of Cameroon through the Ministry of Forests and Wildlife (MINFOF) on a joint project aimed at securing the biodiversity, ecosystem services and ecological processes of this important protected area through a participatory and sustainable management.
For better coverage of its area of intervention, WCS has reinforced its vehicle fleet in order to facilitate the regular and real-time deployment of teams throughout the periphery of the Project Support Project area. development of the Mbam and Djerem National Park. It is in this context that the recruitment of a Financial Assistant is envisaged.
The objective is to strengthen the intervention capacities of the financial and administrative service of the Support Project for the development of the Mbam and Djerem National Park.
2. Responsibilities
Placed under the supervision of the administrative and financial manager of the Project
The Financial Assistant will be specifically responsible for contributing to the administrative, accounting and logistical management of the Mbam and Djerem National Park support project.
Holding the box
- Assist in the management of cash needs, as well as supply requests;
- Ensure cash payments in accordance with WCS management guidelines and procedures
- Ensure timely recording of all financial transactions in the Cashbook;
- Keep the expense register;
- Control and track all expenses incurred by traveling teams and other personnel;
- Record all expenses following the WCS accounting system;
- Ensure the payment of expenses related to electricity, water, taxes and duties etc.
- Ensure the monthly closing of the fund;
- Ensure the logistical organization of meetings, workshops and other events;
Financial reports.
- Produce monthly and periodic financial reports in accordance with the procedures in force at WCS;
- Ensure a good classification of expenditure according to budget allocations;
- Ensure the monthly filing of cash documents according to the WCS filing system;
- Facilitate the preparation of internal and external audits of the project;
- Ensure proper archiving of all site financial documents.
Staff
- Calculate and pay in close collaboration with the financial manager the taxes, duties and social insurance costs of the staff;
- Archive and ensure traceability of salary advances, imprints and reimbursements from staff;
- Ensure the traceability and archiving of documents relating to the reimbursement of medical expenses, leave, leave of absence and absence for reasons of staff illness.
Inventory and material management
- Assist in the development of quotation requests for workshops and events Assist in the planning, acquisition of rations, equipment, fuel and other project logistics;
- Help document, archive and trace in real time the stocks, logistics and material equipment, movable and immovable property of the project;
- Assume any other task assigned by the hierarchy.
3. Qualifications‚ experience‚ skills
- Have a BTS or Bac +2 years in accounting and business management;
- Have a professional experience of at least 3 years;
- Experience working with an NGO would be an asset;
- Master administrative procedures and relations with external services (suppliers, administrations);
- Master accounting and bookkeeping;
- Master the French language and have very good knowledge of English;
- Be between 20 and 30 years old
- Mastery of computer tools, especially common software (Word‚ Excel) and internet is an asset‚
