The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation is a global leader in the fight against pediatric HIV and AIDS, working in 15 countries and at over 5,500 sites around the world to prevent the transmission of HIV to children, and to help those already infected. Today, because of the highly successful work of the Foundation and its partners, pediatric AIDS has been virtually eliminated in the United States. With a growing global staff of over 1,000—nine of 10 who work in the field—the Foundation’s global mission is to eliminate pediatric HIV and AIDS by implementing HIV prevention, care, and treatment programs; further advance innovative research; and to execute strategic and targeted global advocacy activities to bring dramatic change to the lives of millions of women, children, and families worldwide.

 

Job Summary

The Associate Data Management is supervised by the Director of Public Health Evaluation and Research and will receive technical oversight from Senior Technical Research Officers. The Associate Data Management Officer will support the Data Management Officer in data processing (entry, cleaning, management) and data analysis of research projects in Cameroon. He/she will oversee the project’s databases and will perform data checks and ensure data quality by generating a listing of errors and sending data queries for correction.   He/she will report to the Principal Investigators and will work closely with the Data Management Officer, Study Coordinators, Study Monitors, and Research Assistants.

 

Responsibilities

 

Ø  Conduct data quality assessment in the study database and generate a listing of errors or inconsistency.

Ø  Produce and send data queries to study sites and supervise the data correction process.

Ø  Ensure that all study and project-level statistical activities are conducted in compliance with relevant country-level regulatory requirements and EGPAF standards.

Ø  Communicate and collaborate with other research team members to ensure consistency of statistical approaches across studies and alignment with study approaches.

Ø  Provide support, as needed, for the Data Management of the other research project protocols carried out by the foundation.

Ø  Perform statistical analyzes for planned data presentations and communications related to the study (progress report, newsletter).

Required Qualifications

ü Master’s degree in statistics, biostatistics, epidemiology, or any other relevant domain.

ü  Justify solid knowledge in public health or in a relevant field.

ü  Knowledge and understanding of human subjects’ research and of GCP.

ü  Experience in clinical or operational research as a data manager or data officer will be highly appreciated.

ü  Experience in the management of electronic data collection software will be highly valued.

ü  Knowledge of statistical analysis software (Stata; SPSS; SAS; R). Excellent mastering of at least one is mandatory.

ü  Experience in clinical monitoring and operational research data will be highly valued.

ü  Excellent teamwork skills.

ü  Excellent oral and written communication skills.

ü  Perfect professional proficiency in English and French.

 

This position is subject to donor funding.
