Missions and Responsibilities
Main objective
Provide an appropriate approach to assess the protection situation in a timely manner by assessing the community needs of diverse populations, developing and implementing tailor-made support and support plans and methods based on the needs and ensuring appropriate follow-up while creating an atmosphere of trust and care.
Responsibilities
- Develop a schedule of awareness-raising and training activities, workshops and meetings with communities/stakeholders;
- Collect updated data for database update
- Check and ensure the quality of the data collected
- Organize visits to homes and communities (schools, hospitals, etc.) to identify deficiencies in terms of hygiene;
- Participate in the development of modules and pedagogical awareness tools with the Social Cohesion officer, adapting them to different audiences (songs, role plays, meetings, training);
- Participate in meetings held in the field and write a report,
- Under the direction of the Social Cohesion Officer, participate in the planning as well as the administrative and logistical organization of interventions in the field;
- Identify local resources that can help in the preparation and implementation of activities;
- Organize training for key actors on protection themes in collaboration with other key actors;
- Organize and lead community awareness sessions on identified themes and according to established methodologies;
- Ensure the progress of activities and the impact of awareness-raising sessions, by monitoring the application of good practices by the communities;
- Throughout the implementation of the project, take into account protection issues and risks (“Do no harm”) for the population.
- Record and send to the supervisor statistics related to evaluations and awareness and training sessions;
- Fill in and keep the monitoring tools and files archived at the INTERSOS office, accessible to his supervisor;
- Write synthetic activity reports and report to the protection officer on the progress of the activities and specific tasks entrusted to him, the problems encountered, the quality of relations with the beneficiaries and the commitment of the community;
- Make proposals for the continuous improvement of the activities he/she implements;
- Throughout the project, ensure the application of established project implementation strategies, as well as their ownership by key actors and beneficiaries, providing them with technical guidance as needed;
- Conduct home visits to assess the living conditions of clients when necessary
- Refer clients to appropriate services and, if necessary, accompany them to different service providers
- Provide ongoing basic emotional support and guidance in regular follow-up meetings, building trust based on confidentiality protocols
- Documenting cases on the internal case management platform, ensuring that any progress in the case plan and any significant changes in the client’s psychosocial well-being and general situation are timely and duly recorded
Ensure proper and secure filing and archiving of case management files to preserve data confidentiality
- Perform all tasks in accordance with key protection principles, including the principles of: do no harm, non-discrimination, confidentiality, accountability and need to know
- Participate in internal case management meetings and bring special/urgent needs cases mmediately to the attention of the Team Leader.
- Ensure good relationships and coordination with key service providers in the area of intervention to improve the identification of people with specific needs for rapid referral, follow-up and sharing of information. information
- Identify and report gaps in the availability and quality of services provided to clients in targeted areas
Job requirements
Education
- University degree in a related field, e.g. ex. Social work, Psychology or equivalent is an asset
Experience
- 1 year of relevant work experience
- previous experience with an NGO would be an asset
Speech
- Fluency in French (written and spoken).
- Mastery of the local languages of Logone and Chari (Arabic, Kotoko, Hausa, Fufulde, Kanuri and Musgoum.)

- Good leadership, planning and organization skills
- Solid knowledge of protection in the humanitarian context (case management, psychosocial support activities etc.)
